Kia ora from The Court's Chief Executive

Kia ora Court Supporters, it's lovely to have this chance to talk to you again through this great publication – The Court Cues. So many people work on this to ensure that you receive a range of information in different ways, but all of it about this wonderful group of people that you belong to, literally the support that The Court Theatre could not do without.

We are continuing to work on our plans for the move to the City. We can’t wait to share with you how transformative our new home will be, how it will express the creativity and humanity of what we do, and how we will be able to connect more and more with our diverse community. We’ve waited almost eight years and it seems now as we are so close, we are all so impatient to be resident in the Performing Arts Precinct. We continue to say thanks to the Christchurch City Council for this partnership, and for the aroha that they have for The Court.

Alert Level 2! I know we have heard “when” and not “if”, but did we really see that coming this week? However, the team at The Court are following the advice and the plans, and we are using our well honed creative skills to ensure that you do not miss out. Unfortunately Boy Mestizo has to be postponed as James Roque, the central figure, is in Auckland under Alert Level 3, unable to catch his flight to us. Instead, we have a great show for you from our fabulous Jesters… Scared Scriptless Saves The Day! So, join our magnificent improvisers as they transport you to their imaginations.

For those of you who have been to a Scrippy (as we like to call it), you will know that no two shows are the same, and this one will be unique and entertaining. For those of you who haven’t been, we promise laughter and fun, and, as an added bonus for those of you who live in fear of being called upon and asked to act like a tree, during Alert Level 2 we keep our distance so audience members don’t come up on stage… phew!

We have much to be thankful for at The Court – most of all, we thank our team, and we thank you.

Ngā mihi nui,

Barbara George
