Oh, What a Night!

“That was the best evening out I have had in a long time.” Those were the words of one of the guests at the Curator’s House dinner organised for Supporters and featuring Mark Hadlow as the guest speaker.

Mark Selwyn Hadlow ONZM is a veritable treasure of New Zealand stage and screen having appeared in plays and films since the 1980s. His stories during the evening about his acting life, about his association with The Court Theatre and about the upcoming production of Winding Up kept the dinner guests enthralled and hungry for more snippets and gossip. Mark was incredibly generous with his time and he is a consummate storyteller drawing in his audience with a mix of humour and pathos. Everyone was extremely appreciative of Mark’s generosity, especially knowing that he has a heavy rehearsal schedule at present.

As with our previous dinners at Curator’s House, the food was delicious and the service both efficient and friendly.

I am not sure who we can find as a guest speaker to top the pulling power of Mark Hadlow, but we are likely to hold another dinner next year.
